Robin HR200

GAPiston single-engine

Last updated: 2026-04-21

The Robin HR200 is a two-seat, wooden-construction, side-by-side trainer powered by a 108-160 hp Lycoming engine, used widely at French and Benelux aero clubs for LAPL and ab-initio PPL(A) training. It is a workhorse of European EASA general-aviation training fleets, used at both DTO and ATO operators for hour-building and rating progression. Its straightforward piston single-engine layout is ideal for early SEP rating training.

What is the Robin HR200 used for in flight training?

As the entry-level Robin model, the HR200 introduces students to the Robin's characteristic light and responsive handling at a lower cost than the four-seat DR400. Its two-seat configuration keeps weight and balance simple for early student flights, while the robust wooden airframe requires straightforward maintenance accessible to smaller aero clubs. Many French ATOs use the HR200 for the first 15-20 hours of PPL training before transitioning students to the DR400 for navigation and night exercises. Its LAPL-compatible certification makes it ideal for students pursuing the lighter licence before deciding on the full PPL.
