Last updated: 2026-04-21

The Airbus A350 is a carbon-fibre composite widebody seating 300-370 passengers, entered service in 2015, operated by Lufthansa, Finnair, and ITA Airways on long-haul routes with industry-leading fuel efficiency. It is a workhorse of European EASA general-aviation training fleets, used at both DTO and ATO operators for hour-building and rating progression. undefined
What is the Airbus A350 used for in flight training?
The A350 type rating is a premium qualification for pilots advancing to the most modern Airbus long-haul type. Its carbon-fibre structure, advanced fly-by-wire system, and next-generation avionics introduce pilots to composites maintenance awareness and new monitoring displays not found on the A330. Cross-crew qualification (CCQ) with the A330 is available at some operators. Key training areas include touch-screen OIS displays, advanced aircraft health monitoring, and very long-range operations including polar routes.
