When Martin Wimmer decided to pursue his pilot's license, he expected the biggest challenge would be in the cockpit. Instead, it was just getting started. Finding the right flight school meant sifting through outdated websites, scattered forum threads, and word of mouth. Understanding EASA regulations felt like learning a second language. And figuring out the medical requirements, exam structure, and training path? Nobody had a clear answer.
There was no single place to compare flight schools, check medical examiner availability, or understand the step-by-step process of obtaining a license. The information existed — but it was fragmented across dozens of sources, none of them designed with student pilots in mind.
So he built one. What started as a personal project to map European flight schools became Aviatr — a platform connecting aspiring pilots with everything they need to start and advance their aviation journey.
European Aviation Training Was Broken
The problems Martin encountered weren't unique to him — they affect every aspiring pilot in Europe.

Finding nearby ATOs or aviation medical examiners meant hours of searching. Availability, pricing, and reviews were rarely in one place.

Aspiring pilots had no clear roadmap — which licence to pursue, what exams to prepare for, how long training takes, or what it costs.

Aviatr is the integrated digital platform for European pilots. Built on the EASA ecosystem and available in 13 languages, it connects pilots with certified flight schools and aviation medical examiners, equips them with tools and training resources, and provides a digital logbook with live flight tracking.

Martin starts building a directory of European flight schools after his own frustrating search for the right ATO.
2023 — Platform Launch
Aviatr launches publicly with flight school and medical examiner directories covering multiple European countries.
2024 — Rapid Growth
The platform reaches 600+ flight schools and 1,200+ medical examiners. EASA exam prep, pilot tools, and training features are added.
2025 — European Expansion
Coverage expands to 10+ European countries with dedicated directories, localized content, and a growing pilot community.
2026 — Rebrand to Aviatr
The platform rebrands to Aviatr with a new visual identity, 13-language support, logbook, live flight tracking, and achievement system.
